2007 Imago Chardonnay

What does “imago” mean? Well, if you flip open a dictionary, it’s defined as the adult, or sexually mature, stage of an insect. Think post-caterpillar, post-cocoon butterfly. How does this relate to our wine? Well... many years ago, we asked ourselves, "Why the hell would anyone oak a chardonnay?" Since we like our fruit to smell and taste like, well, fruit – not butter – we decided to free the juice from its oaky cocoon. We ditched the old, tired form in favor of what we believe is the prettiest and purest expression of the grape. Rich in the tropical flavors of white peaches and golden pineapples, honeyed Bosc pears and Lemon Zest, this wine will make you flap your wings... so get ready to fly. The metamorphosis of California chardonnay is complete!
